If there is a cut-down version of the SiRecogniser then, I wonder if Steve could tell us what we would lose out on. If it had no camera, there would be no recognition, but I just wonder how depleted the system would be if a couple of grand were knocked off it.

Yeah, I thought after sending the email that the lower figure was for a cut 
down version minus camera etc.

I don't subscribe to Infotech as yet but was able to listen to the article
direct from the Itext website.

The article about this is on the July (Sight Village) issue of Infotech
magazine. There is mention of two products, one of which costs £600 to £800. 

The full works was said to be £2600 with £200 additional for training. If
you have this magazine, it's in the Itex article.

That sort of figure would, of course, be much more comparable, but £2,700
with training, and £2,500 without, is what I've heard. Steve recommends the 
training because of learning to use the camera proficiently to obtain the
best results.

That's very interesting as in response to this thread I did a a google on
it
and found an mp3 of a demo done at last year's sight village I think in
which Brian Hartjen talked to the guy from the company who make the SI
recognizer and when Brian asked about costs, suppliers etc I'm sure the
figure was more like £600 to £800 but well looks like I've got this wrong.
