Hi Paul,

Just to expand on what you are saying, if your phone can't pick up 3G,
because of a weak 3G signal, which is separate from your phone signal, it
will fall back to Packet Data, which is a slow connection method, much akin
to dial up.

I hope this helps explain things.

All the best

Steve

Hi Damon.
Packet connection is usually active when your phone is set to 3G mode, what
network are you using?

Hi.

My talks-enabled Nokia N73 keeps beeping from time to time, sometimes when
I'm talking to someone, and other times without real reason.

It is occasionally heard to say the following after a beep: "packet data
connection active"

Can someone tell me what this means and how, if possible, I can turn it off?

Thanks in anticipation
