[access-uk] Re: My phone talks rubbish - help!

To turn 3G off, go to menu > tools > settings > network > network mode > GSM. When asked to restart the phone, do so with soft key 1 (Yes). I would say that 3G isn't bad, but if you're not going to use it then you might as well turn it off and save battery power. Hope that helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Damon" <damon.rose@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

how do you turn this 3g on and off? And indeed, is that how it works? Maybe you shouldn't want to turn off your data connection? When I hit Talks button and soft key 2, it tells me that 3G is connected. Is that good or bad? Does it take up more battery power?

Steve - this is most interesting; when you say calculate route much faster, does that mean it will also reroute more quickly when wondering off track? by that I mean will it have done it before I have walked as far as I might
otherwise have done when not using 3G? -

| Hi Andy,
|
| Yes, 3G will make Wayfinder calculate routes even faster.

| Steve - is it best then to have 3g turned on say when using Wayfinder
| Access, rather than using packet data? -

|| Hi Damon,
||
|| You are just losing and gaining the packet data signal. Please see my
|| previous message for an explanation of packet data.
||
|| You probably don't want to turn it off if you are using 3G or Packet, but
| if
|| you do, let me know, and I'll find it and tell you.

||
|| Hi.
||
|| My talks-enabled Nokia N73 keeps beeping from time to time, sometimes
when
|| I'm talking to someone, and other times without real reason.
||
|| It is occasionally heard to say the following after a beep: "packet data
|| connection active"
||
|| Can someone tell me what this means and how, if possible, I can turn it
| off?
||
|| Thanks in anticipation
||
