James, 

Thanks for your response.  I've got JFW 6.2.  I think when setting sleep mode I 
set it as the default and then changed the setting which says unload 
synthesiser.  I can't run anything as I've no speech when I try to get anything 
at the programs menu.  Does this make the solving any easier.
