ECE 453 Network Group

This list is going to be used to communicate with a class whose course goal is to develop and implement a system of cameras -- both fixed and pivoting-- that are connected via a wireless mesh, all communicating back to a central center. The purpose of the system is to utilize vehicle recognition software to identify and/or track cars based upon a set of criteria, like going faster than 25mph. The entire class discusses the correct course of action, splits tasks, and works together to complete the overall goal, and as such, I am hoping to be able to communicate easily with the different teams that we have broken up into -- this particular group is called the "network group."

Training with Technology

To easily communicate among partner staff issues surrounding the financial, career, and education planning as it relates to a training plan. The purpose of the list will be to share training issues among staff across Northwest Washington, especially as it relates to using technology (Internet, group discussion boards, emails, online training, and more) to keep the staff and students better informed on the issues and news items.

GPISD GT Specialists Group

We are a group of Gifted and Talented Program teachers in Grand Prairie, Texas. The librarians in our district have a "Free Lists" listserv on which they communicate daily about current issues with the library program. We would like to be able to have a running dialogue about curriculum and testing issues in our elementary and middls school GT program. Our teachers work with 1st through 8th grades, and provide enrichment and acceleration activities for high ability students. Part of our curriculum involves internet and technology-based independent research for students to pursue their area(s) of interest. Our gifted students are expected to develop high quality products and presentations using technology as part of their independent research.

California State University Faculty and Staff Employees

General Labor Relations Discussion Group for California State University Faculty and Staff Employees. Of current importance are impending Furloughs and Layoff related issues. Subscription is open to any CSU Faculty or Staff Employee. Any misuse of the listserv will result in permanent subscription revocation. Late Breaking News: CSU Faculty (narrowly) and Staff Unions voted to accept Furloughs which will amount to 24 days without pay over 11 months August 2009 through July 2010. Only union members were allowed to vote. Staff csueu full union members account for less than 8% of Staff employees represented - so 94% of non Faculty employees could not vote and had no voice. What CSU Human Resources Departments and Unions are Not Telling Employees: California EDD has stated that some State Employees who are furloughed may qualify for unemployment compensation. Employment attorneys are advising all to apply for unemployment benefits each week they are furloughed before the furlough day(don't wait until Friday since EDD employees are being furloughed on some Fridays) in order to protect your rights (that's 22 filings over 11 months..)

AmblesideOnline

AmblesideOnline is a support group for homeschoolers using the technology of the internet to provide high quality home education at no cost. Ambleside Online (www.AmblesideOnline.org) is designed to be as close as possible to the curriculum that Charlotte Mason used in her own PNEU schools. Given our present limitations, which include the limited availability of high quality, accurate books, we have merged her method with 20th century technology by providing an online curriculum plan free to users. We also create custom e-texts, and midi files for study that are passed on for free public use.
