John,
I'll let you all know when I get the details after the investigation concludes.
Beyond that, I will address Dennis' question about where crosswalks are
located. Since the south side of both Spring and Stroudwater have a sidewalk on
one side, that is the side where the crosswalks are. It's standard practice.

I feel like I don't want to invest too much thought and planning before we
learn the details about what happened, otherwise how can we know what to
propose? Dennis' friend may be right that the PD may not be willing or able to
tell us much until they have concluded their investigation, but once it is
concluded, I think it becomes public knowledge.
Maybe for now we can at least "open a channel" with the city to ask to be
updated whenever any publicly available details are determined, especially when
the investigation is complete.
Erik, you are on this list. Is that something you can do, keep us updated on
the status of the investigation? Or should we contact someone in the PD?

I did notice on a drive around today that both Stroudwater and Spring Street
intersections with WCD have three of four sides with a Crosswalk. Driving
West on WCD, when you stop at the Lights. That side does NOT have a Crosswalk
and the Spring Street Intersection is exactly the same. Why is that?
I just spoke with a longtime friend on the Archangel Committee who knows Chief
Roberts from her years on the Portland PD. He is also a Defense Attorney. He
feels we may not be able to be forward with her due to Legal Restrictions in
what she can tell us. He suggested we approach Bill Nemitz at the Portland
Press Herald instead. I have met him and would be open to ask him. First we
need to compose a Statement.

Sherrie WAS walking in the street sort of. I thought there was a crosswalk but
there's not.
I'm thinking of organizing an emergency WSMAC meeting. We can try to talk/meet
with Chief Roberts but I'm not sure she could do anything ASAP.

Hi Lee. I wrote to Ann Peoples.
1. An Emergency Request to DOT to lower WCD Speed Limit to 25 MPH.
2. She wrote she has some ideas besides lowering Speed Limit but did not
clarify.
3. As a longtime member of the Greater Portland ~ Archangel Sister City
Committee since 1989, we have learned that the Electronic and Printed Media can
be both an Enemy or a Friend. One must be very careful. A cartoon in my
Grandfather's Electric Motor Repair Shop in MA. stated:
" Be sure brain is in gear before putting mouth in motion."
As a new Safety Organization in the Neighborhood, I think we should compose a
Statement and make a presentation with as many of us attending as possible.
The Question is Where and to Whom ?
Before too much time passes. One statement on a TV News website stated " She
was walking in the street. " I find that distasteful and making an assumption
without knowing all the Facts. I would really like to consider meeting with
WPD Chief Janine Roberts first and ask her if she would be comfortable joining
with the WSMAC to make a Statement.

I feel I want to do something, need to do something...but what? I was
interviewed by channel 8 news earlier today at her makeshift memorial. *John, a
neighbor of hers had started one before I got there*.
WSMAC needs to step it up and do something somehow! Something needs to be done
and that time is NOW!
