There were 4 White-crowned Sparrows near the entrance to the Lakeshore
Express Ferry, about 40 yards south of the road in a sapling. It's a bit
early for their migration, so these could be birds that wintered in the
impoundment.
Three Black-crowned Night-Herons have returned to the usual spot on the east
side of the Veteran's Park lagoon in Milwaukee.

I saw and heard the Carolina Wren that survived the winter at Schlitz
Audubon Center. It must be one of the hardier individuals of the species
because I have always been told that Carolina Wrens do not survive severe
winters. A special thanks to Marilyn Bontly who recently updated me on this
bird, which frequently goes undetected for long periods of time (personal
experience!).
