When entering eBird checklists this April, please be aware of the following: 1. The checklists are expanded and each species group contains many more possible entries. For example, Eastern Phoebe has now been joined by the Eastern Kingbird and if you don't look carefully, the former could be entered erroneously! This has already happened........ 2. The eBird data filters limit the way that the eBird team can present the species on the checklist, resulting in birds appearing on the list at the beginning of April that would be record early observations if seen at the beginning of the month, but "normal" to observe later in the month. Be mindful of the record dates for species and always be certain to enter details into the Comment fields about birds seen early - eBird will NOT prompt you to do this for all record-worthy sightings, you must do it yourself!
