My wife and I stopped at a small pond at County KP and Breunig Road Sunday evening. The pond has nice mud flats without all the weeds. However, it will dry up if there is not a lot of rain soon. There weren't many birds. There was a Spotted Sandpiper and one Dunlin. Spotted Sandpipers are fairly common right now. But the Dunlin is the first I have seen for a while. Wonder if this a late arrival or one that may spend the summer around Dane Co.? It would be nice if we had a couple of inches of rain to fill this pond back up to see if other late shore birds would find it. Good birding.
