This evening I noticed what I would characterize as a "winter plumaged loon" associating with 5 Common Loons in full breeding plumage far out toward the middle of Pewaukee Lake. I had my scope cranked to the maximum zoom in an attempt to make out details, however the lighting at 6:45 pm was lacking to say the least! I am letting people know so that someone might be able to check out the area tomorrow - I would be glad to have led someone to a nice bird! There are numerous access points around the lake, but I made my observations from the boat launch on the western shore off of Maple Ave. Also seen were 12 Horned Grebes, 3 Pied-billeds, 15 D-cr Cormorants, & 5 Ruddies. Good Luck! Andrea Szymczak Waukesha, WI #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
