Hi everyone,
A few more details on the Lewis's can be found on the Coulee Audubon website:
http://www.couleeaudubon.org/cras_bird_alert.html

This would be the 4th state record if accepted.

One further note:
Apparently it is the daughter who is the birder of the family. Clint and I
didn't get to meet her when we were there, but if you happen to be there when
she's home from school, please congratulate her on this awesome find and
timeliness of reporting it. :)

"The beauty and genius of a work of art may be reconceived, though its first
material expression be destroyed; a vanished harmony may yet again inspire the
composer; but when the last individual of a race of living things breathes no
more, another heaven and another earth must pass before such a one can be
again."

A Lewis's Woodpecker was reported and photographed on a farm near
Galesville in Trempealeau Co today (posted on Facebook). I don't have any
additional information for twitchers at the moment.
