After a heads up from Jeffrey Bahls I checked L. Sin. yesterday and today for loons. Yesterday found just two, this morning three, and this evening there were 27 loons, many fairly close to shore offering very good looks. Spread out across the open water were about 3 dozen white pelicans, common mergansers, scaup, 1 d.c. cormorant, bufflehead, a few canada geese and on the edges of the remaining ice were hundreds of gulls. Had good look at 3 male pelicans with the bump on their bill. Also drove Horseshoe Rd. on north end of lake and had rusty blackbirds.
