I actually started birding at Nine Springs and saw lots of Canada Geese, American Coots and Mallards but also a few Northern Shovelers, Green-winged Teal, American Wigeons, Northern Pintails and Gadwalls. The northwest wind was really cold so I relocated to the more sheltered Lake Farm County Park. The special sighting of the day was a mixed flock of Golden-crowned Kinglets (6), Brown Creepers (3), Yellow-rumped Warblers (2) and Orange-crowned Warbler (1) all in with the sentinel birds, the Black-capped Chickadees (5). In the water I saw a male and female Hooded Merganser hanging out with 5 Pied-billed Grebes. My eBird list is appended below.
