I had numerous white winged crossbills in the yard by now last year... No sign of them nor the redpolls, although they( redpolls) came in in February... The spruce cone production was low this past spring, making a less attractive food source. I did have a red-bellied WP in the yard yesterday. best, cg Claudia Giamati Chippewa Falls(mailing address) Chippewa County "A knowledge of the path cannot be substituted for putting one foot in front of the other." -- M. However, in early November we had numerous Bohemian Waxwing sightings. Currently they seem to have left, but often they return in February. We still have trees with uneaten fruit in the area. Generally it seems there are less birds around this year, but Mourning Dove and Blue Jay still show strong numbers. Probably because of the hard crusty snow, raptors are very scarce. Pine Grosbeak-very spotty sightings Purple Finch-here until middle of Dec. Often they are here year round House Finch-gone since Nov. They will often return in May Red Crossbill-Found in their reliable spot White-winged Crossbill-spotty sightings Common Redpoll-only few seen Pine Siskin-seen in low numbers at several feeders Evening Grosbeak-about the same as last year in low numbers at several feeders Good birding, Kay Kavanagh Aurora Florence Co #################### You received this email because you are subscribed to the Wisconsin Birding Network (Wisbirdn).
