When processing my records before "crashing" I discovered that I failed to mention two other interesting things. There were at least 10 Common and 2 Red-throated Loons on Wis Pt. And last I watched a Short-eared Owl harass a male Harrier for 5-10 minutes on the marsh north of the pumphouse. When it finally drove the Harrier off, it then proceeded to hunt for quite some time over the marsh. That was a real surprise to find a SE Owl out there at this time of the year---possible nesting??? A footnote: any one going to Crex Meadows for the sparrows and rails, be aware that they have burned an extensive part of the east refuge area, including up to the pumphouse. It is just starting to green out. Thus the prime habitat (besides along the North Refuge Rd by Reed Lake) is the NORTH side of the pumphouse, not the south. Good luck.
