About a month ago I was checking the waterfowl on the Yahara River bay along Hwy B north of Stoughton and there was a Canada Goose with an orange neck band. I took a photo of it and sent in the info to the USGS station in NJ. Tonight I got an email back with the info. Very interesting. It is a male banded in 7/31/1997 at Fort Severn, Ontario. Age of bird says hatch Year 1996 or earlier. Amazing when we see all those Canada Geese in migration and never stop to think how old they might be? I never would have guessed 14+ years. Fort Severn is located due north of Milwaukee and approximately where it would intersect the shore of Hudson Bay. Now I know where 6XK7 spends the summer! Good migration all.
