It's a stationary Dell SFF. Power options are set to Always on-scheme. Subsettings as follows: Turn off monitor is set to 15min, Turn off harddisks is set to Never and dito System standby. Hibernation checkbox is unchecked. This is a workgroup computer (only one in this particular group) that I recently installed XP on after having had Kubuntu on it. Basically this means it's never seen our windows-domain, and thus no GPO's have been inherited. We do have an energy star power savings-gpo (EZ GPO that you linked to below) set on the domain though, but I don't see it being inherited to a *workgroup* computer. I am correct in believing this not ever happening, right? _____ From: windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:windows2000-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jim Kenzig ThinHelp.com Sent: Tuesday, February 12, 2008 2:06 PM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Re: Shutdown instead of restart Is this a laptop Sorin? What do you have the energy power saving settings set to? Turn them all off. You didn't install EZPro and forget about it did you? http://www.microsoft.com/technet/abouttn/flash/tips/tips_111506.mspx Jim On Feb 12, 2008 3:31 AM, Sorin Srbu <sorin.srbu@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Hi everybody, I have a problem with a WinXP-machine in a workgroup that always shuts down (or goes into some kind of standby mode) when I choose restart. I've tried looking through the bios settings but can't find anything relevant there. Google is inconclusive on this, as more ppl have problems with the machine rebooting when they chose a shutdown; my problem is the other way around. Any ideas on this?
