I'm just playing with this for the first time (and I agree, it is FAST!), but here's another choice that I just saw from Serdar Yegulalp's Win2K Power Users newsletter (available at http://www.win2kpowerusers.com/): <---------------Snip-------------> Shareware: Resplendent Registry Reader JW passed along word of a program called Resplendent Registry -- a very nice replacement for REGEDIT/REGEDT32. There's two versions of the program -- a full $44.95 version and a freeware version with less features. The best part of the program is its speed -- according to JW, "I did a search on Symantec (have Norton AV 2002 installed). My registry is 22mb. 77,950k keys were searched, producing 181 keyname matches, 15 value name matches and 466 data matches. All in 8 seconds!" The program can be had from http://www.resplendence.com/download and is certainly worth a peek if you constantly find yourself up to your wrists in Registry keys. <---------------Snip-------------> Give it a shot. Standard "Don't-shoot-the-messenger" disclaimer applies... Damn. I have some thoughts on regedit and regedt32. I'm really angered that there is no separate regedit and regedt32 in XP anymore. I mean, I usually used regedit in 2000 unless I needed the regedt32 functionality. But, I would also use regedt32 whenever I had to connect to two registries at the same time and do some comparing of the two. Now in XP since there is only one registry editor, it's a real PITA to look at two registry locations at the same time. I find myself terminal servicing into servers just to use their regedits whenever I need to look at two places at once. I hate that. I'm pretty damn disappointed, and I wish I could launch more than one instance of regedit or regedt32. I don't know why those programs don't allow multiple instances. I mean, it's not like they lock the registry while they're open or anything like that. It doesn't make sense. Maybe someone knows of a way...
