Go to www.office.microsoft.com and do all of the product updates.
The issue about looking for the .msi file is resolved if you get your Office
totally up to date with Service Packs.
The error is: Office originally needed the exact .msi it was installed from
(the exact network share or the exact cd (not a copy of that cd) this is
resolved in the updates.

yes I did try detect and repair no help but I think I am gonna try to run it
under administration first as suggested earlier and if that does not work I
will try the steps that was sent to me over the weekend. Thanks for all your

Is it asking for a CD? Windows installer often looks for the original
install .msi
Have you tried a detect and repair?
