[windows2000] Error 1706

I recently purchased a new computer that came with Win 2000 professional, and I
am having a problem understanding why I can't get word, excel, etc to work
under another name. It will work under administration, but I get an error code
under my user name before word will launch. Error 1706. No valid source could
be found for product Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Small Business. The Windows
installer cannot continue. I have searched and searched the microsoft website,
but I am at a loss to understand all the techno mumble jumble that is so
different from Win98SEI do have SR-1a and I keep trying to install it but it
keeps saying it is already installed. Word works fine under administration,
but error code under user names ..... how do I fix this..... Please tell me
like I am a 2 year old, because today, I feel like it. Just to let you know, I
have been on the microsoft website for about 2.5 hours now, I have found info
that refers to this, but I don't know what the windows installer is or if that
even applies to me.......Is there something I can read that will tell me in
plain English what I should be doing here? I have been able to figure most
everything else out here along the way....but not this and this problem is at
least 6 weeks old now. this is getting old and tiring really quick.Thanks for
