That's interesting.... I just can comprehend why though..?? The only = analogy I can think of is a police officer and wearing his/her = bullet-proof vest. The odds are you will not get shot or even into a = gunfight but I think it would be unwise not to wear it. (Wow, I hope I = didn't go overboard with that comparison.) You can lock your web servers down sufficiently it just takes experience = and time. And considering it's their software they have the experience. My point is that you can expose web servers to the public Internet if = you take the proper precautions and hardening steps but most people = don't or don't know how. =20 -----Original Message----- From: Costanzo, Ray [mailto:rcostanzo@xxxxxxxxxxx]=20 Sent: Monday, January 27, 2003 12:02 PM To: windows2000@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [windows2000] Re: Alert: If your sql web server is currently = getting hammered you need to download this patch I believe that I heard once (on this list?) that MS doesn't have their Web servers behind a firewall at all. I find that hard to believe, anyway. And even if it is true, I'm sure they have separate SQL Servers that are behind one...
