Hi all. the process is actually very straight-forward. go into the media library. Select the tracks from the library that you want to transcode. Use your screen reader cursor to right-click. Arrow down to "send to" and press enter. Arrow down to "format converter" and press enter. configure the options the way you want, (they are all quite self-explanatory), and press enter on the okay button. When the transcode is complete there will be a "done" button on the screen. Press enter on that and you're done. Note though that when you press the "done" button, you won't be back in the winamp window by default so you'll need to alt+tab back to winamp if that's where you want to be. My advice to people on this list would be to just go ahead and try it before asking all kinds of questions. The options are very self-explanatory and the transcoder will not delete your original files so you can't break anything by messing around with it. Have fun.
