Welcome Back from Spring Break!
Here's a friendly reminder of what's happening around Whitman:
"Our Children, Our Future" Petition Drive
The Area PTAs are still accepting signatures during Spring Break for
registered voters to sign a petition to get the "Our Children, Our Future"
initiative on this year's ballot. The petition can be signed by
appointment. Simply reply to this email to make arrangements. There is a
deadline for the petition and time runs out by April 10, 2012.
Yearbook Orders
Yearbooks are available for pre-orders. Prices vary by month of order $15
for month of March/April, $18 through May, and $20 in June. Don't Delay,
get your orders in Today! Checks are to be made payable to Whitman
Elementary.
March 26 - April 9, 2012 - Whitman PTA Spring Fundraiser - Whitman PTA will
be accepting fundraiser packets all this week but expect to send in the
order forms by April 18, 2012. Online orders can still be placed until
April 16, 2012. The monies from the Spring Fundraiser will help the
Whitman PTA continue its efforts to enhance the educational experience for
the students at Whitman. These monies are used to help pay for field trips,
school-programs, and provide low-cost family oriented events. Your support
is greatly appreciated.
Madison Cluster of Schools
The next Madison Community of Schools metting will be held May 7, 2012. We
will not be having a meeting in April.
I would also like to forward the following message from Jason Adams to you
all. The Clairemont Town Council meeting will be held April 12th at
Clairemont High School.
This month's CTC meeting will feature a Sub District A Board of Education
candidate forum. Mark Powell, Jared Hamilton and John Lee Evans will be
present to speak to education issues. The CTC will be accepting questions
via the www.clairemontonline.com <http://www.clairemontonline.com/> website
prior to the meeting. We are encouraging schools and parents to attend and
participate. Please pass this info to schools and parents.

Panel Members Needed for Senior Exhibitions at Madison, May 2, 2012
I wanted to forward the following request for Greg Williams at Madison. The
senior exhibitions are coming up soon:
Attached is information about Madison's upcoming Senior Exhibitions on May
02, 2012. We are seeking 75-85 people from the community to serve on panels
and would be pleased to have you participate again this year. We also
welcome your help in reaching out others who may have an interest in
participating as a panel member. Please let me know if you would like to be
involved, or if you have questions or need additional information.

April 13, 2012 - Shining Stars Ceremony
9:10 am on Blacktop
Whitman PTA sponsor the monthly student achievement awards by providing
light refreshments.
The ASB announced that they'll be hosting a Jog-A-Thon after the break to
raise funds for play equipment. Look out for more details in May.
April 19, 2012 - Whitman PTA Association Meeting, 6 pm in the Auditorium
The primary action item for this last Whitman PTA Association Meeting for
the 2011 - 2012 school year is to vote in the Board Members for the 2012 -
2013 year. The current terms is due to end on June 30, 2012 and the new
board members begin July 1, 2012. To find out more, please attend the next
Whitman PTA Board Meeting on March 15, 2012 in Room B2 at 6 pm.
Merchandise:
Whitman PTA is awaiting confirmation on pre-orders from the vendor.
However, last year's youth small t-shirts and zippered hoodies are still
available. As well as an assortment of adult t-shirts, zippered jackets,
polo's, and scoop neck tees.
Volunteer Opportunities
Parents/teachers that wish to help make a difference at Whitman with the
Whitman PTA are welcome to help in the following ways:
Mission Federal Banking Days - Every Wed except the first Wed of the month.
Parent Reps for grades Pre-K, 3 - 6: Be a member of the Board by being a
representative for the grade and serve as a liaison by passing on important
info of upcoming testing, field trips, or other types of events that are
grade specific.
School Site Council Board (SSC)
SSC Board is comprised of Parents and Staff of the school and participate in
making decision in regards to specific programs at Whitman Elementary. The
next SSC Meeting is on March 28, 2012.
Get ready for Summer!
Summer camps at Balboa Park are now available and most are half-days and
different camps can escort children to other camps. Below is the link.
