Here's a friendly reminder of what's happening around Whitman:

 

Yearbook Orders

Yearbooks are available for pre-orders.  Prices vary by month of order $15
for month of March/April, $18 through May, and $20 in June.  Don't Delay,
get your orders in Today!  Checks are to be made payable to Whitman
Elementary.

 

March 26 - April 9, 2012 - Whitman PTA Spring Fundraiser - Whitman PTA
wrapping up the processing of fundraiser order forms.  April 16 is the last
day to place online orders, online orders over $50 will receive free
shipping.  We appreciate your support.  

 

Madison Cluster of Schools

The next Madison Community of Schools metting will be held May 7, 2012.
There will not be a meeting in April.

 

The ASB announced that they'll be hosting a Jog-A-Thon after the break to
raise funds for play equipment.  Look out for more details in May.

 

April 19, 2012 - Whitman PTA Association Meeting, 6 pm in the Auditorium

The primary action item for this last Whitman PTA Association Meeting for
the 2011 - 2012 school year is to vote in the Board Members for the 2012 -
2013 year.  The current terms is due to end on June 30, 2012 and the new
board members begin July 1, 2012.  Attached please find the meeting minutes
from the January 19, 2012 Whitman PTA Association Meeting.

 

Family Movie Night - Featuring Cars 2, Rated G

May 11, 2012

Whitman Elementary Auditorium

Admission is free.  Children are to be attended with a parent and/or legal
guardian.  Food will be available for a nominal fee.

 

Merchandise:

Whitman PTA has inventory of youth medium and large T-Shirts with the cougar
paw in front - there is ONE youth Small shirt left!.  We also have youth
Polo shirts in youth size Small, Medium, Large, and Extra-Large as well as
in adult sizes for women and men.  Last year's youth small t-shirts and
zippered hoodies are still available.  As well as an assortment of adult
t-shirts, zippered jackets, polo's, and scoop neck tees.

 

Volunteer Opportunities

Parents/teachers that wish to help make a difference at Whitman with the
Whitman PTA are welcome to help in the following ways:

 

Mission Federal Banking Days - Every Wed except the first Wed of the month.

 

Parent Reps for grades Pre-K, 3 - 6:  Be a member of the Board by being a
representative for the grade and serve as a liaison by passing on important
info of upcoming testing, field trips, or other types of events that are
grade specific.   

 

School Site Council Board (SSC)

SSC Board is comprised of Parents and Staff of the school and participate in
making decision in regards to specific programs at Whitman Elementary.  The
next SSC Meeting is on March 28, 2012.

 

Get ready for Summer!

Kids bowl free summer program:

The Kids Bowl Free Summer Bowling Program is available in our community and
we thought that your family might enjoy this great deal.  Each child
receives 2 FREE Games of Bowling Every Day All Summer and last summer nearly
2,000,000 kids enjoyed this great program.

 

Here's How You Can Register Your Family 

 

1.       Go to www.KidsBowlFree.com

2.    Click on the State and then select the bowling center that you'd like
to 

participate at.

3.    Register your children to receive Free Bowling all summer long

4.    Sign up the adults and/or older children for the optional Family Pass
which allows up to 4 adult family members including parents, grandparents,
older siblings or an adult babysitter to join in the bowling fun.

 

Summer camps at Balboa Park are now available and most are half-days and
different camps can escort children to other camps.  Below is the link.
