Saying that the moon landing didn’t happen IS A LIE. It’s not a matter of
opinion – anymore than saying the Holocaust didn’t happen. Saying that there’s
room for opinion – like Obama was not born in this country? – is exactly how we
ended up with Trump for president. IT IS A LIE. It dishonors people who
devoted their lives to making it happen. If someone keeps saying the same lie
over and over again, is calling them out “bullying?” Is it really kindness keep
indulging people with crazy delusions that are ultimately harmful for everyone?
Is it name-calling to say that someone who repeats the same lie, believing it
to be true in spite of any evidence, delusional and therefore mentally ill? And
people who aren’t mentally ill, not expending enough intellectual gumption to
reject those lies – stupid? Believing it is crazy. Allowing it to stand is
stupid. There is no opinion involved here. Truth *IS* worth more than delusions
and lies. I wish people would stop being polite and ignoring them, before we
end up with worse than Trump.
