Just a note on Komplete Kontrol. Remember that if you go that rout you will
still need to purchase Komplete or Kontakt because unfortunately Komplete
Kontrol doesn't come with Komplete or Kontakt. However, if you don't
require the Komplete Kontrol keyboard for access then you can achieve this
with HsC sets.

Wow I've really been missing out! This Samplitude has got me really
amped to make some music like I haven't been in a while. As soon as

I myself have, and have pretty effectively used my maschine studio to
produce drum and sample patterns and then exported them in to sonar
since I couldn't figure out how to get the plug in to work properly. I
wouldn't exactly call it accessible, but I made it work.
Keep the knowledge coming, the newbie in me is eating it up!

Regarding Sonar, most folks have left it behind now and abandoned that
line,because of the lack of accessibility and no useable solution on the
horizon. There was talk about a possible solution for Cubase, but all
seems
to have gone silent, so I'm not 100% sure what the situation is. So, that
leaves us with Reaper and Samplitude.
Reaper is a very low cost option and offers a huge amount of
possibilities,
but it is notoriously qwerky in how it works. A solution has been made
called Osara and this makes the program very very accessible in many
areas.
There is a thriving community of users, so you would be OK for getting
help
I'm sure. It is not rich in plugins and many aren't convinced with its
pretty sterile sounding engine, but that is purely subjective of course
:).
Then we have Samplitude, which comes in 2 supported flavours, ProX 3 and
ProX3Suite. The suite version comes with a host of very high quality
plugins, synths and tools to enable you to do all tasks needed in a DAW.
From tracking, mixing and mastering to precise editing,, it really does
cover everything.
I'm not sure on the price, but ProX3 is about £299 and ProXSuite is around
£399, which is a reasonable investment, but that investment wouldn't
really
require you to buy anything else. It comes with Independence Pro, which
contains about 70G of sampled instruments, Sound Forge 11 and some iZotope
products just to mention a few.
The access solution was initially started by myself and Tim burgess, but
has
just been me for the past 20 months or so. The current available solution
is
a hybrid of Jaws script and HSC, but I will be releasing V3.0 very soon,
which is all Jaws script and it supports Samplitude in Windows 7 and
Windows
10. It is very comprehensive and gives unrivalled access IMO in virtually
every area of Samplitude. My estimation would be that it supports around
90% of the program, with the other 10% being addressed in the upcoming
months.
We have an excellent relationship with magix, the owners of Samplitude and
the future is looking very very bright . Our aim is to have a
screenreader
independent solution sometime in the future. We have a growing and very
supportive community of users and I'm very proud to say that every one of
them are focused on making this community a positive and helpful place, so
there is no competition and demands that go on.

Thanks so much for the replies thus far. Let me try my best to narrow
down the focus just a little bit if at all possible. I've been a
windows, and jaws user for about 15 years now so I think it is in my
best interest to stick with what I know, plus I've seen some Mac voice
over tutorials and I just don't think I have the time to invest in
learning a whole new operating system as well as a DAW. Now I have
some experience using sonar, but I believe that my competency level
could be rated as beginner at best. I am curious about samplitude if
someone could provide a little more information on this? Another
question, could someone elaborate on the native instruments console, I
have some experience with their instruments and am a fan, so if this
is an option I would consider it as well. I appreciate any guidance
that you can offer, I realize that I'm giving little to go on right
now, and that's simply because I am trying to gather as much
information without letting any prior knowledge leak in so that I
won't potentially miss anything important at this starting phase where
changes can still be made with out to drastic of an impact. I can
already feel the wisdom and, with your help, I am looking forward to
developing the most accessible studio that I can (for under $10,000).

I think the first thing you have to answer for yourself is, which
platform, Macintosh or Windows, do you like working with more? Or, put
another way, which platform do you find easier (read "more
accessible") to work with? Both platforms offer fine and accessible
solutions for running a production facility, from recording to
mastering, but each platform also has pitfalls and things it can't do,
some of which the other platform can, some of which can't be done
accessibly no matter which platform you choose.
You could spend $5K on startup hardware--a powerful Intel-based
computer running either Windows or Mac OSX could cost the better part
of two thousand dollars. Add another five hundred for software,
including softsynths. MIDI controllers aren't that expensive, unless

weighted jobs. The Native Instruments Komplete Konsole system
full-blown package runs about $2,500, but it include everything you
need except the Mac to run it on, so there's a turn-key option for
controller and softsynth library right there. A pro-quality audio
interface could run you $500 on up, then you'll need a mixer and
microphones if you want to record live audio, that could easily run
you three-plus grand without blinking an eye, and now you're well into
the six- to seven-thousand-dollar range. Of course, you could cut this
cost almost in half by buying lesser quality gear, but if you're
serious about building a recording facility, you'll find in pretty
short order that won't cut it for you, especially on the microphone
and mixer side.
None of the money you spend at the start will get you producing
instantly. You'll have to spend some serious time, full time all the
time, learning your gear, especially the DAW software, whether it's
Sonar or ProTools or Samplitude or Logic or whatever you choose.
Unless you have some useful vision, each one of these softwares has
its own set of access keys, there's very little, if at all, similar
among them insofar as screenreader support goes, so your learning
curve will be steep at the start.
I don't mean to sound discouraging, just realistic. Music production
is to the point these days where anybody with a few thousand dollars
can create a bedroom studio for themselves and pump stuff out like a
cow produces milk. Producing a quality product will not come fast or
easy.
