Hi Steve,
Yes I have that driver installed and working under W7 on my old daw machine
that was built by DJX around 4 years ago. I learned a lot using Reaper on
that machine, but I thought that Reaper was just a little too geeky for me.
So I bit the proverbial bullet as it were and bought this new machine and
got a copy of Samplitude X3 for $299.00. But unless I'm mistaken, it's the
Onyx driver and control panel that is not compatible with W10. Am I mixed up
on what driver is what?
Oyvay!

There is an ASIO driver that has been known to work with the Onyx mixers,
it's not from Mackie, and best of all, it lets Windows see all the channels,
not just the first two. I think it's called ASIO4All. If that's not the
exact name, I'm sure someone in here can correct that error. You might try
that before going backward or spending money.

professors - like in first grade, and I truly appreciate what you guys do.
But as of yesterday, I learned that the driver for my Onyx 820I is not
compatible with the Windows 10 platform. My mew daw computer, built by
Jim Roseberry of Studio Cat, came with Win 10 installed.
As I understand it, Jim has worked with a few of us blind musicians in
the past. So I asked him what he has heard from other blind Win10
users. I
thought: Ok, surely by now, most of the software and hardware
manufactures I am dealing with are current with the latest MS platform.
So I agreed to go with the W10 idea. So I installed all of the programs
I would need on my new daw. I mean like I am pumped! And then I learned
about my Onyx driver. I suddenly became a balloon with no air. Do I
purchase a copy of Win 7 and re-do installing everything from scratch?, or
Hmmmmm! Decisions, decisions. Any thoughts? Advice?long to do.
Thanks...
John

John. We are looking at a matter of weeks before Windows 10 will be
accessible when using Samplitude. Steve has been working on the
scripts but Len and I don't have them over for testing yet although
Steve tells us that he is almost finished recoding them. Once that's
done I shall need to look through and see if there are any amendments
to the documentation to be added. If there are then that shouldn't take
Win 10?

Hi Steve and all,
John Chilelli here. I'm just getting started with Samplitude and fairly
new to recording on a dawn. I just got a new computer and was trying to
decide if I should go to Win 10. But now I see that the scripts will
not work in os10. Correct? Any hints on when you guys will be updating to
small.
Oh well, here's to starting over again... <smile>

Hi Sebastian and welcome to the list, it's great to have you. As Phil
said, you're probably best quantizing objects first, which is just
basically a selected piece of data. Don't get mixed up between ranges
and object selection, as even though they can overlap and do the same
thing sometimes, they have different purposes.
Regarding selecting an object. The best way to think of it is like an
accordian. When the timeline/zoom ratio is expanded, you can see
objects that otherwise would be hidden, due to the fact they were too
--
For example:
If I have a 2 bar object (drums ), recorded between bars 2 and 4, I
would only see that object if the timeline was not compressed. So, the
timeline could read:
1, 7, 19, 27 etc etc etc and I would not see that object, as it is
hidden between the contracted timeline, namely bars 1 - 7.
So, I would expand the timeline and zoom in to show bars 1, 2, 3, 4
etc...then the object would be visible.
Also, as Phil said, this is normal behaviour of samplitude for all users.
Jaws can only report if an object is selected or not if it is visible,
the same way it would be for a sighted person.
There are a few You Tube videos you may find useful...and more will be
added in the coming months, but due to a lot of development of the
scripts, there aren't as many as I would like. After the next release
of the scripts, we will be in a much more stable and settled position,
as we will be supporting Windows 10 and the scripts will only be Jaws
script, HSC will be primarily for plugin support.. Best steve.

Hi Sébastien. Welcome to the list. Nice to see you posting here. I
think you may be missing a step here. Note: I haven't played much with
range selection but have managed to achieve what I wanted by splitting,
selecting, deleting objects etc and placing markers in at the start and
end points then selecting the range between the markers. Before
starting your range selection you first need to select an object with
control Alt left or Control Alt Right Arrow. Note: Jaws may struggle
to see the object if it isn't on screen. This isn't a Jaws issue as
such as sighted users also encounter this. If this happens then you
may need to zoom in or out. To quickly zoom in use the Samplitude
keystrokes Control+Alt+Shift+- or
Control+Alt+Shift+=.

Subject: [vipaudioaccess] Help with quantizing using samplitude
Hi all,
I'm a new comer to samplitude and I really hope you guys can help me.
First let me add that I love samplitude so much. Here's my issue. I
simply can't quantize midi. Here's what I do.
1. Insert a new midi track
2. Press f9 on that track and then insert addictive drums as a VST.
3. Follow the instructions to get all mono tracks and press ok.
4. Arm the track, record some drums
5. Use the right arrow to go just before I want it to quantize, use
shift+right arrow to select a few bars. I already have my arrow keys
setup so they move by bars.
6. Press control+windows+f11 to set the selection to the track.
7. Press control+q, and I get the same message no matter what I try:
"No object selected for quantizing"
I tried using control+windows+q to basically quantize while I play, and
that works well, however I also want to quantize by selecting, and I
haven't been able to accomplish that. Also, can someone explain me the
quantize menu (control+shift+q"? I'm used to sonar so it would be nice
if someone can explain it to me. Let me add though that there is no way
I will go back to sonar. Samplitude seems smoother for me to use and a
lot better, just my opinion. Anyway, hope someone can help.
Thanks in advance!
