Flor when I looked at the dates, I decided for luck to choose my Birthday 20 February and now I am up and running again. It has been bad for so long and I have b een scared to do this System Restore. Now I am holding my breath and cannot believe the change. I have not wanted to report back for a couple of days but that said it was driving me mad every 30 minutes and less so maybe I will be able to relax tomorrow.

Now given that Paul recommended that I do not touch anything while the process is taking place and he also said it would take about 10 minutes. I would like to say that it took approximately 2 minutes and of course I had forgotten that I would be left without speech and magnification but I managed to read the screen with my magnifier. Was unsure as it had taken such a short time for the process. Then I went to listen to a radio programme just now and found that I had to reinstall Flash 10.2 again and again thanks to Paul I had stored away the link for it that he gave out on the list. All working fine so far and I could enjoy the radio programme just now.

Thanks a million Paul and everyone.

Eleanor

Eleanor,

I believe the limit System Restore will go back in time is two months, (60 days).

Hi Paul
Many thanks for excellent clarification. I look forward to reporting back if I had success and am hoping that I will have success under your guidance.

Hi Eleanor,

1. Go into Programs and accessories.
2. Go into system tools.
3. Click on "System Restore"
4. Choose from the two radio buttons which are "Create a restore point and Restore my computer", the restore my computer checkbox/radio button with
your mouse.
5. Click "Next" and wait for a calendar to come up.
6. Choose a restore date you want and note that only dates in "BOLD"
lettering are available to you.
7. Once yu have made your selection, go to next.
8. On the final screen click OK and the computer will restart itself.

This process can take anything up to 10 minutes to complete. Do not touch
the machine while a system restore is in progress.

Paul.

Subject: [vip_students] System Restore Windows XP Pro

Hi
I know jin the past I have discussed this but never implimented it. I have
a problem with my PC and someone has told me that it is Windows Explorer
crashing. What is happening is that the computer sort of freezes and I
cannot close documents etc either from the mouse click or via the keyboard. I had a look at System Restore right now but I have never done this before and do not know how to progress. I want to go back say to the beginning of February as I know I did not have this problem then but I seem to be given
an option to create a restore point. Any help please.

Many thanks.

Eleanor
