Tony,Additional to what i said earlier elsewhere and that you know, each time the user compacts a folder (or all folders) in Outlook Express, nowadays a copy of the uncompacted folder is sent (saved, if you like) to the Recycle Bin. (This was to provide a backup in the event that folders got corrupted during the compaction process.)Now, if you or anybody wishes to learn how to restore a lost folder, I would recommend you google the phrase:.bak to .dbx[exactly as typed]. No quote marks. The process is a bit complicated. .bak files are the backups of Outlook Express folders. Thus, you could have Sent Items.bak in your Recycle Bin: In fact, probably a few, depending on when you last emptied it or how often you compact your OE folders. Fortunately, so far I haven't had to try it.The easiest, no-frills, way to save important messages out of outlook Express is to save them as text files. There are extraction and/or backup utilities. Visit the programs link atwww.jaws-users.comand you may find one or two. Visit other Web sites of blind users' interests, also, as there may be useful programs there too.----- Original Message ----- From: "tony sweeney" <deirton711@xxxxxxxxx>To: "students list" <vip_students@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, March 20, 2011 4:47 PM Subject: [vip_students] Backing Up Email FoldersHi Folk,Could Paul or anyone else please let me know how simply to back up folders in OE?I am not looking to know how to do a system back up but just folders in OE.I lost my sent Items folder as I believe that it somehow got corrupted but it reinvented itself but with all my sent items gone!I did a 'find' in the OE edit menu but no luck in finding them; nothing too critical lost thankfully!Anyway, Any assist gratefully appreciated as always.
