Thanks for clarifying the Youtube download thing, that is as I thought.
I’ve yet to sync anything between the Mac and iPhone, though I have
connected the iPhone a couple of times to view photos taken on it. Maybe
some syncing was done automatically.
The question of a cd doesn’t arise, as I know I don’t have anything by this
particular band on disc.
As you say, a credit card check will throw some light on it. Either way,
it shouldn’t break the bank!
Ed: Can’t explain why our emails are blank.

Youtube is for streaming only Eamonn - no downloading of content is allowed
there.
There is no "purchase" list on the iPhone itself as far as I know, however
if you sync with the iTunes software on your Mac or PC all purchased items
will appear in the "Purchased" or "Purchased on iPhone" folders.
Is it possible that you copied the album to the iTunes software from a CD
and then it got transferred automatically to the iPhone when you plugged it
in and did a sync?
Your credit card statement should shed some more light on the situation
anyway.

I didn't check my credit card yet, but will take a look over the next day
or so. Is there a place on the iPhone where you'd go to check any
purchases - A setting in either of the stores for example?
So far as I know I was only in Youtube, and not in the iTunes or App store.
I don't think I entered my Apple password either.
Is it possible to download from Youtube, or just watch /listen?

Hi Eamonn,
No, it's not possible to buy content from the youtube app on the iPhone. As
you say - in general the only places you can spend money easily are in
iTunes or the App Store.
I don't really understand how "purchase" was displayed in the iPod either.
Are you sure you weren't in iTunes?
Only material you purchased (or transferred to) the iPhone shows up in the
iPod.
Did you check your credit card for any outgoing transactions to iTunes? Did
you happen to enter your Apple password at any stage on Friday night?

Question: On IOS4 devices, is it possible to download from Youtube, and
can you be charged? I thought you can only download from the App Store or
Itunes.
Background:
Last Friday night while using my iphone on my wi-fi network, I opened
Youtube and searched for the Modern Jazz Quartet, MJQ.
I listened to a couple of tracks and shut down.
The following day, I heard music on my phone, although I knew I’d nothing
in my iPod app. I assumed I’d accidently opened Youtube and the search
field was filled in and activated.
On checking the iPod app, I discovered an MJQ album – a very pleasant if
perplexing surprise.
Above the cover art and first track, was a heading: purchase. Does this
mean I’ve unknowingly bought my ffirst album?
As I recall the event, I just listened to Youtube, I didn’t fill in any
order forms on iTunes.
If you want to dip your toe in the easy listening end of the jazz pool,
I’d certainly recommend checking out MJQ – a standard trio, bass, piano and
drums, with the addition of a vibraphone.
