up, i checked the box that says not to update.

i will check the virus protection settings for windows defender and see what
happens. i did shut it down after uninstalling codex and then reinstalling it
after rebooting. i did not install any new programs. i use that computer
specifically for converting books to load on my iphone using voice dream.
another topic. anyway i could use my kindle to listen to books, but i am
waiting for amazon to add the new english voice Kimberly. don’t know if or
when they will do that. anyway thanks for the suggestion of shutting down the
virus software and trying again.
