[vi-kindle] getting kindle to talk

HI, I just bought a kindle 8hd and am having trouble getting speech or voice view to stay on. The first time I turned it on I had 2 fingers on the screen. It said to keep my fingers on the screen and then canceled and that was it. Now I can't figure how to turn it off for sure. Any one have any ideas how to get speech to stay on? I have an older 7 inch and that was no trouble at all. Help if you can. Take care, Bob***
