Hi Bob,
I remember hearing a demonstration a while back on a podcast, where the guy
doing the podcast I held his fingers down too long after he heard the tone that
you're supposed to hear. And then the screen reader closed. So you might try
turning your device on waiting to hear the tones, putting two fingers on the
screen, and as soon as you hear the voice view, take your fingers off and see
if that helps. It should work the same way as your 7 did.

HI, I just bought a kindle 8hd and am having trouble getting speech or voice
view to stay on. The first time I turned it on I had 2 fingers on the
screen. It said to keep my fingers on the screen and then canceled and that
was it. Now I can't figure how to turn it off for sure. Any one have any
ideas how to get speech to stay on? I have an older 7 inch and that was no
trouble at all. Help if you can. Take care, Bob***
