Indeed Dane.
This is particularly important if you are installing Samsung's version of
TalkBack on a Samsung device. This feature is off by default, which will make
it rather painful if you need to enter in passwords as you go about setting up
your device from scratch, so make sure you turn it on prior to proceeding from
the first screen.

Another note on this topic if I may.
When entering passwords - as in letters and numbers - the password is hidden by
default so to hear the password spoken as you type or to hear what letter your
finger is on you first have to “Show Password”.

Hi Laz,
That default is gone now. The default is to always speak passwords. I know
this because I have done several resets. This is true on Android 10 or 11.
All the best

Regarding your first question: In TalkBack you can decide to hear password
when typing. It's default value is set to speak when you have headphones on,
but tha t can be changed, so that you hear the keypad also whan you don't use
headphones.
Thanks.

Morning,To post to the list, simply send email to vi-android@xxxxxxxxxxxxx.
My Samsung s10e upgraded to Android 11 yesterday. I was using Voice
Assist before the upgrade and know now it is TalkBack. My questions
are:
1. When I unlock my phone and need to type in my password (a 6-digit
code), the screen keeps saying pin unlock so I can’t hear the
number pad to keep entering in my code. How do I fix this? Or can
I?
2) 2) When I’m writing a note in Keep Notes, say, after a letter
or two and try to use the volume up and/or volume down buttons to
navigate forward and backward through the just typed text, the phone
will say things like accessibility volume 30% or example rather than
allowing me to use the volume up and volume down to navigate. Is
there a way to fix this as well?
Any assistance would be appreciated to fix these things.
Jeanne
