Glad you found it useful!
I'll add the sub-groups stuff.
Regarding the text stuff, I'll have to look into how other services do
this. I imagine it's a free text number to sign up and to reply?
However, I'm not sure how it would work, imagine:
1) Text SIGNUP to <our-number>
2) Receives a text confirming sign up
Then, when we want to ask multiple questions, say three, do we send 3
separate texts? The thing about the smart phone, is that the form will
show what answer to give, whereas, the regular phone user will just
guess what to type in - so we might be getting all sorts of wrong
information.
Also, the mobile phone number of a person - is that more personally
identifying than the reference number we get from the smart phone?
No worries about being busy, we'll get there.

That's brilliant Luke.
Totally cool.
The first thing I would add would be a step after "chooses organisation"
about "chooses sub-group" (eg a table tennis group that is part of the
Cork city centre youth service).
The other thing I have been thinking a bit about is all the stuff about
people downloading the app and allowing push notifications; this may be
our show piece but we will probably have to have other methods working
too like texts (as we mentioned before).
The other thing going on for me is that I have come back from my holiday
to a bit of a shit storm in the day job so I'll be tied up for today and
tomorrow so forgive my absence.
Maybe we could chat over the weekend.
All the best,
John

Folks,
I'm going to be using BPMN[1] to model how the entire system is going to
work. These diagrams are an software industry standard for explaining
how a system works to everyone making a product - technical and
non-technical alike.
It is important to brainstorm how all the moving parts in a system work
up front while taking into account the interaction with the user. This
diagram method unifies all of this very simply.
As a first attempt, please see the BPMN diagram for the design of a user
signing up for the first time on a mobile app. The most important point
- be critical! We need to shake out any problems in the initial design.
Look for problems! I use 'with-smartphone' in the title, because maybe
we want to consider 'without-smartphone' for the initial design? Text
messages? Worth considering ...
If this works, and we're all comfortable moving ahead with this type of
diagramming, then I will get them somewhere online where it easier to
view them and add notes for improving them.
Let me know!
Best,
Luke
