Folks,
I'm going to be using BPMN[1] to model how the entire system is going to
work. These diagrams are an software industry standard for explaining
how a system works to everyone making a product - technical and
non-technical alike.
It is important to brainstorm how all the moving parts in a system work
up front while taking into account the interaction with the user. This
diagram method unifies all of this very simply.
As a first attempt, please see the BPMN diagram for the design of a user
signing up for the first time on a mobile app. The most important point
- be critical! We need to shake out any problems in the initial design.
Look for problems! I use 'with-smartphone' in the title, because maybe
we want to consider 'without-smartphone' for the initial design? Text
messages? Worth considering ...
If this works, and we're all comfortable moving ahead with this type of
diagramming, then I will get them somewhere online where it easier to
view them and add notes for improving them.
Let me know!
Best,
Luke
