A great start for us at the Opening day of the Dutch Gap Banding Station in Chester. A very enthusiastic group of volunteers turned out before sunrise to open the 12 nets. The weather was perfect and the birds steady throughout the morning until closing time at 11:30 a.m.. Total number of birds netted: 31 which included 4 recaps or previously banded birds. Here is the tally:

American Redstart (AMRE) 2-1 recap female/1 male
Carolina Wren (CARW) 5
Brown Headed Cowbird (BHCO) 1

Carolina Chickadee (CACH) 1
Blackpoll Warbler (BLPW) 1 gorgeous female
Ovenbird (OVEN) 1
Red-eyed Vireo (REVI) 2
Swainson's Thrush (SWTH) 1
