At Byrd Park Lake today there were Ring Necks (~6-8), Amer. Widgeon (~20), C. Geese (~30), Herring Gulls, and Ring-billed Gulls. At our house in Meadowbrook we had a Winter Wren on the deck; Juncos at the block seed feeder; about 10 or more Amer. Goldfinches at the thistle feeder; Carolina Wrens (1-2), White-breasted Nuthatches (2-4), and Downy (2) and red-bellied(2) Woodpeckers, and E. Starlings(~4-6) at the suet feeder; House Finches (~10), Titmice (~4), Carolina Chickadees (~4), and at the safflower and black-oil sunflower feeders. White-throated Sparrows and Juncos were helping to clean up after the others in the snow under the feeders. A few Northern Cardinals were also around. It was a busy day for the birds! Also, we saw one Eastern Towhee, several Juncos, and at least 12 White-throated Sparrows in Bon Air. By the way, we thought nothing would ever come to that small block feeder we got at the auction, but today we finally got some takers! Al & Linda Warfield You are subscribed to VA-Richmond-General.
