For those interested in learning more about bird window
collision mitigation, the American Bird Conservancy (ABC), the authority on
window strike mitigation in the U.S., has just published a new, easy to
navigate website dedicated to this subject. When retrofitting The College
of William & Mary's worst offending windows, we referred to their resources
frequently. After applying treatments by CollidEscape (who produces several
products) and Solyx at several windows we recorded zero collisions.

Or you can stick 3â strips of masking tape in an X on the âoffendingâ
window. Thatâs what we did and Iâd guess it cut bird strikes by something
on the order of 90% over the past 10 years.

Hi all, not a siting, so if that upsets you, just delete this.
For the rest of you...We have huge windows in a yard with very old trees.
We've been in this house 10+years, and have noticed 1-2 strikes over the
years (evidence on the windows or dead birds in the yard). However,
working from home has demonstrated that the few we'd noticed in prior
might not have been accurate. For example, one day last November thereme; I
were 6 (SIX!!) strikes in one morning. It was a terrible morning for
hate to think about the birds.https://www.collidescape.org/online-store/CollidEscape-Guaranteed-White-p104371436
So I started doing some research and came up with CollidEscape.com, and
this specific product in white (P104371436):

if the link works. We sent them measurements of all our larger windowshttps://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HRdHk3wbmGJ08yPg4kz5bmHB5aeAhJaK?uspÿaring
that don't have outside screens and they sent a package back with all the
pieces. It is sort of easy to install (but you need 2 people for larger
pieces) and a non-windy day.
We covered 6 large windows for about $350 with shipping.
No bird strikes since we put it up! However, a few things to know. It's
like looking through a dark screen door, and it lets less light into the
house (which will be great in the summer, as it's supposed to keep the
place cool). I'm sending a link for a few photos so you can see what it
looks like inside & outside.
so
I'm quite proud of the diversity (15-20) of birds in my yard in Del Ray,
I think it's worth the screen-door look to protect them.email to va-
Please contact me if you can't see the photos or if you have any
questions.
Best,
Karen
