The Big Sit website has posted the 2004 results. Thanks to everyone who
participated in the Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory Sit at the Kiptopeke
Hawkwatch, we finished in a tie for 4th place in the U.S. with 78 species. The
winning circle was Los Osos, California with 103 species. If a cold front
comes through just before the Big Sit some year, the Kiptopeke circle could
easily pass 90 species!
The 2005 Big Sit will again be on the Sunday of the Eastern Shore Birding
Festival, October 9th. The more sitters, the better!
