Birders,
Carole Miller, Emily Southgate, my husband, and I teamed up to form part of
the Sector 1 team for The Plains Christmas Bird Count yesterday, Sunday,
December 15. We traversed the snowscapes and visited farms and fields along
Rt. 626, Rt. 704, and Milestone Road as well as the town of The Plains.
Highlights included a flock of 100 Horned Larks alongside cows grazing on
freshly rolled hay, 10 Killdeer in the same vicinity, 2 Northern Harriers,
1 Eastern Phoebe, and White-crowned Sparrows along the roads in The Plains.
