[Va-bird] Sector 1 - The Plains CBC

Birders,
Carole Miller, Emily Southgate, my husband, and I teamed up to form part of
the Sector 1 team for The Plains Christmas Bird Count yesterday, Sunday,
December 15. We traversed snowscapes, visited farms and scoped fields along
Rt. 626, Rt. 704, and Milestone Road. Highlights included a flock of 100
Horned Larks alongside cows grazing on freshly spread hay, 10 Killdeer in
the same vicinity, 2 Northern Harriers, 1 Eastern Phoebe, 2 Brown Creepers,
1 Belted Kingfisher, 8 Eastern Meadowlarks, and White-crowned Sparrows
along the roads just outside of the town of The Plains.
