Working from home once in a while has the advantage that you can have a
longer lunch break. Instead of having lunch in the office, I went to
Monticello Park to check out the warbler status. Overall it was fairly quiet
but I still managed to find 11 warbler species. Many warblers were high up
in the tree so I did end-up with warbler neck. Best birds were Canada
Warbler (new for VA), Blackburnian Warbler (one male), Bay-breasted Warbler
(male) and 2 Magnolia Warblers. The thrushes were fairly quiet and I did
not see a single Hermit Thrush or Wood Thrush. That was a surprise. However
seeing Gray-cheeked, Swainson's, and Veery made up for it.
Happy birding!
