Late post: our group of seven tallied 30 species yesterday. Despite the fog
it turned out to be quite productive. The highlight of the day was a winter
wren posing on a dam in the holding basin stream. Brown creepers and
woodpeckers were quite prevalent. The river was still high so there were few
ducks. The Eagles were nowhere to be seen this week.
All are welcome to join this regular Sunday walk that meets at 8:00am in the
visitors center parking lot. -- Marshall Rawson, McLean VA
