Today (7/14/13) my dad and I took a wonderful bird hike on Mutton Hunk Fen
Natural Area Preserve in Accomack county. It was amazing a usual for this place
as every time I go. This was even better this time because while walking along
the natural grass field I could hear a sound I could only describe as "Tick
Tick Tick" sound. I kept telling my dad " must be a Dickcissel" He blew it off
when I first noticed a Blue Grosbeak making a similar song but further down the
field not to far from the Grosbeak I heard another "Tick Tick Tick " but had a
light buzzing at the end unlike the Grosbeak. again I scanned the field till I
found the bird and sure enough it was a male Dickcissel calling loudly only a
few feet from us. soon we could hear 2 more and one female flew up soon after.
Other birds I saw on my hike. ( note did not count the birds this time only the
Dickcissel"s)
