Greetings,
Nine people joined leader Jenny Vick for a walk along the upper Snakeden Branch
creek in Reston, VA this morning. While warm and humid, this was an enjoyable
walk sponsored by The Bird Feeder, Reston Association, and Audubon Society of
Northern Virginia. This was our first visit to this section of Snakeden Branch.
This section of the trail is best reached by parking as close as possible to
the Reston Community Center in the Hunters Wood shopping center. The center is
located at the intersection of Glade Drive and Colts Neck Drive, Reston, VA.
We had a productive walk and the list follows:

Red-bellied Woodpecker--one of which was bringing food to a nest cavity

Pileated Woodpecker--4, three of which appeared to be a family group

Tufted Titmouse
White-breasted Nuthatch

Wood Thrush--good looks at two of them; singing birds thru out the walk; one
building a nest
American Robin

Eastern Towhee--both heard and seen
Song Sparrow
Northern Cardinal--numerous; one pair building a nest
Indigo Bunting
Common Grackle
Orchard Oriole
American Goldfinch
