This evening, between roughly 6 to 6:15 PM, I was surprised to see dozens of
chimney swifts over Arlington, from Ballston southwest to Glencarlyn. They
were in small groups averaging 2-4, and the general movement indeed seemed to
be
toward the south. This seems almost two weeks late to me. It would be
interesting to see if a lot of them pass through southside Virginia tomorrow.
Also out and about in large numbers this evening were large flocks of Robins
and Starlings, not so interesting. Cheers,
