For the first time since early June, I was able to have sundowners on the
deck this evening without suffocating from the humidity.
The birds also seemed to be enjoying the cool breeze. The crape myrtles
are blooming and they were alive with blue/gray gnatcatchers, more than I have
ever seen in the yard at one time. All of the fledglings, cardinals, titmouse,
catbirds, towhees, bluebirds, house finches and phoebes were busy and had the
yard in a feeding frenzy.
The third nesting of bluebirds is well underway in the nest box in the field
and the migrating hummingbirds have arrived in limited numbers, about a dozen I
think and are emptying the two feeders every other day.
It was wonderful to be able to sit outside and enjoy the spectacle
