Ken
I collected the only one for Kentucky several years ago. I mistaken it for a
rare 8461 Hope Hypena (Hypena humulis), until James Adams set me straight to be
5625 Omphalocera cariosa related to the commoner 5627 Omphalocera munroei. Are
there any records for Tenn?

Like I said, I must have been missing something obvious. I looked through the
Pyralids and somehow missed this one.

Thanks, Larry! This is a new one for me.

Omphalocera cariosa - Hodges#5625 (Omphalocera cariosa) comes to mind.

When I saw this moth last night I figured that with that shape, pattern and
long palps it must be a species of Hypena or at least something close. I'm not
finding it anywhere so with a moth this distinctive, I must be missing
something obvious. Any suggestions?
