I think of that dark band on clouded skipper's ventral hind wing as a funnel
cloud. That's how I remember it.

Skippers can be tough. My opinion on this one is Clouded Skipper, based on
the light-dark-light banding on the underside of the hindwing, and the
visible portion of the dorsal forewing white spots.

Chloe;
Skippers give everyone problems, so don’t feel bad. My guess is Little
Glassywing. There are several other species that closely resemble it, which
makes it confusing. It seems you can see a white area on the antenna, just
before the club, which is one characteristic of this species.

Subject: [TN-Butterflies] ID Help Needed
Hi all,
I'm an inexperienced butterflier that has a very difficult time with skippers
- I consider them the sandpipers of the butterfly world. I have a photo of
one that I need help identifying, and I've attached a link to my Flickr page
(https://www.flickr.com/photos/cawrarities/36330889951/). Description:
medium-sized, chocolate brown, white spots on the wings, pale zigzag on
underwing, fed on Morning Glories and perched on Moss Rose (pictured). I'm
sure it's something embarrassingly common, but expertise would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
